Randy Pausch - great motivating speaker
I had never heard of Randy Pausch before today, but I stumbled into a promo video this afternoon about him appearing on ABC news tonight, so I watched the promo video and was immediately finding myself wanting to hear more from this man.
A quick background on Randy Pausch is that Pausch is a 47 year old, father of three, computer science professor at Carnegie Mellon in Pittsburgh. Pausch was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and was given 3 to 6 months to live. A lot of professors are asked to give “The Last Lecture”, but when Pausch was asked to give his, he took what could have been a sad tale and made it into one of the best speeches that anyone in the audience had ever heard.
The speech was given Sept. 18, 2007, and is being dubbed as “Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams”.
It is a bit long, but it is definitely worth a watch, one of the best speeches I have seen in a very long time. You can also keep track of Randy Paush on his daily update page.
